Rules and Guidelines
-
- Respect Staff: Youth are required to follow all directions given by supervisory staff the first time without backtalk or rude gestures or comments.
- Respect Each Other: Impolite behaviors are not acceptable. If you and a significant other attend, no PDA (public displays of affection). Be courteous, reasonable, honest, respectful, and helpful to others, not rude, mean, or bullying. No tolerance policy.
- Teens are expected to use appropriate and non-offensive language, not using sexist, bullying, racist, or discriminatory language. This includes not using OMG or other forms of taking God’s name in vain. No tolerance policy.
- Roughhousing, yelling, play fighting, wrestling, bullying, running (except where designated), are not acceptable. Any fights will result in an immediate three month suspension.
- A parent is required to register their teen. This includes attending the center the first time with their teen (they do not need to stay after registration is complete), filling out the registration information, signing the behavior policies, and signing the liability release form. No youth may attend without having these on file.
- All teens must check-in at door and check out when leaving. Your name, sign in and out time, and an emergency parental number is required each time.
- Only one sign in and out is permitted per evening. Once you have passed the sign in table, you are considered in for the night. If you leave, you may not return until the following night.
- You may only be in staff designated areas that are \’open\’ to youth. No one may stay in the entrance area for any reason, including talking on the phone or to someone outside the youth center. It is for only walking through to enter and exit. After signing in, you may only pass the front sign in desk again if you are leaving the facility or with an adult for an event. Willfully trying to be in off limit areas is an immediate suspension.
- No one is permitted to \’hang around\’ outside or in the street. We have tons for you to do inside and that\’s where we want everyone, unless we are doing an event outside. We also need to be respectful of neighbors and sleeping children. Standing in the street is not allowed for safety reasons.
- NO possession, use, or dealing of cigarettes, tobacco, drugs and/or alcohol on site or anything resembling a weapon. You may not enter the Center if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Persons suspected of having any of the above will be searched. They will be confiscated and not returned and the youth will be automatically suspended. Any refusals will mean automatic expulsion and full suspension. Furthermore the police will be called.
- No gang signs or affiliations are permitted. Any suspected gang activity will necessitate a call to the police and a suspension.
- Treat other teens and adults’ belongings with respect. Do not take them without permission, even as a joke. The Youth Center is NOT responsible for personal items.
- Always clean up after yourself when your activity is finished. Throw away waste in the proper trash or recycle containers. Any purposeful vandalism or damage to youth center property will necessitate a suspension.
- All computers/games inside and outside will be shared. You must sign out the video games and controllers.
- Use of the SRYC phone is only with permission of a staff member or for an emergency.
- Clothing must be modest (covering you properly and not skin tight) and may not have offensive advertising or inappropriate language. NO gang symbols or related clothing are allowed. Follow the Youth Center’s rules for respect and family morals and values when choosing the clothes you’ll wear at the Youth Center.
- All individuals must leave the facility and parking lot at the scheduled closing time.
- Have a GREAT time!
-
If you have questions or need help, please ask us! Let an adult leader know if you are depressed, feeling suicidal, or even if you just need to talk. If you know that someone is in trouble, let an adult leader know so that they can help. Remember to respect others\’ privacy, except for safety reasons. Gossip and dishonesty destroy our community.
-
All actions good and bad have consequences, while we would hope to only have to deal with good consequences, we understand that reality is different. For a safe and proper learning environment, good order must be maintained.
Therefore, corrective action for ANY broken rule will be left to the discretion of the SRYC Staff on that night. The Director reserves the right to change or modify any or all of the consequences listed below on an individual basis based on severity of offence, attitude of the youth, and compliance with the set terms. All discipline suspension actions will be recorded in writing. Violation of a suspension may result in criminal trespass charges being levied against the suspended youth and removal from the property by the police if the individual does not leave willingly. This is for the safety of all our youth who attend.
- FIRST TIME A RULE IS BROKEN: Verbal warning by any staff member that any further infraction could mean being asked to leave for the night by the staff supervisor. Warnings may be received for any minor, inappropriate behavior within the Youth Center. If you are asked to leave for the night, the director will determine if a longer suspension is warranted. If it is, a letter will be sent to the parents with an explanation and conditions for return.
- SECOND INFRACTION: Parents/Guardians will be notified of the infraction either verbally or in writing with at least a one week suspension. RETURN conditions: the student must bring a parental permission letter with them. The suspension will not be considered over until the staff receives the parental permission letter or a parent comes with their youth to speak to the staff supervisor in person that night.
- THIRD INFRACTION: Suspension for a minimum of thirty days from time of the offense. This will be recorded and a written explanation will be sent to the parent(s). The director will determine if a longer suspension is warranted. RETURN conditions: it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian (who would come pick up the teen if needed) to call and talk to the Executive Director or Property Manager before the teen is allowed back at the center.
- FINAL INFRACTION: After the fourth offense the teen will be expelled from the Youth Center until at least the beginning of the new school year. This will be recorded and a written explanation will be sent to the parent(s). If the parents desire, a meeting with those involved will take place. RETURN conditions: it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian (who would come pick up the teen if needed) to call and make an appointment to meet with the Executive Director or Property Manager before the teen is allowed back at the center. A return date will be set at that time.
Automatic suspensions: Any individuals or groups involved with continual disrespecting, willfully entering off limit areas, bullying, fights, gang activity, possession of weapons, drugs, alcohol, or if the police must be called, will result in an immediate suspension. The amount of time is to be determined by the Director, but will be no less than two weeks. If the police are called more than once for the same people, the suspension will be compounded for each time. RETURN CONDITIONS: The youth will not be allowed to return until all conditions for return are met (parents will be contacted with individual conditions and length of suspension) and a parent meeting must take place with either the director or property manager.
Deliberate Damage: If an individual deliberately broke any equipment or cleaning service is required, that individual must pay for it at replacement or service cost before being allowed to return.
Notice: Volition of suspension by entering the youth center could result in an official trespassing charge and removal by the police!
-
We take pictures, video, and audio at the youth center to post on our Facebook page and use in our social media and advertising materials. Entrance to the youth center constitutes acceptance of this policy. We also have security cameras recording at all times for the safety of our student and staff.

Additional Health and Safety Guidelines have been created for the protection of our staff, volunteers, and students. All parents and students are expected to be familiar and agree to follow these guidelines. The SRYC Health and Safety Guidelines are available at www.solidrockyouthcenter.com/reopening.
